In a perfect world, we would have seamless on going communication with parents and be able to have plenty of time to get into in-depth discussions about autism, behaviors, expressive/receptive language difficulties, and adapting academics. But in the real world a whole lotta stuff gets in the way of that. Parents are working. Conferences are short. IEP meetings are scheduled back to back to back. We have a lot we want to say and discuss but it’s hard to fit it all in sometimes. For years I wished I had a go-to set of printable hand outs that I could readily utilize with different situations that come up with parents. And then I stopped wishing and made one myself. Wishing only takes you so far these days. These forms have been more helpful than I even anticipated. They are great refresher and conversation starter for your more veteran parents and a perfect intro into the autism world for the parents of your younger students. These are even great for all parents to read to learn about autism!
This resource is a set of 15 informational flyers geared towards parents of children with autism. The information is is based on common concerns and question and written in easy to understand language. Visuals, examples, and helpful tips are included on each page.
Whether you are a parent looking for more information or a teacher looking to share information with parents, this resource will help explain important strategies and info an understandable way!
