Sometimes as teachers we get too dang excited working on those big, lofty, complex skills that we forget to spend the time focusing on the basics. Those foundational pieces are oh so important and will completely sabotage our work on the big skills if don’t spend the man-hours making sure they are truly mastered. I get so pumped about working on wh- questions I often jump the gun and starting working on harder questions or working on wh- questions mixed up, when really I should be working on the most concrete questions in isolation. Who is a great question to start with because it’s pretty concrete and focuses mostly on people/animals so can be easy to discriminate. This adapted book – Who Am I? – is perfect for even your less verbal learners to begin working on wh- questions. It’s straightforward, concrete, and will start the wh- question ball rolling!
This book – Who Am I? – works on the essential skills of making inferences, vocabulary, and question answering. Each page follows a similar routine and is interactive.
