Having students for multiple years in a row is both a blessing and a curse. It’s great because we have lots of time to work with our kiddos, we get to know all of their complicated nuances, we completely master their preferred learning style, and we are able to provide a consistent environment for a prolonged period of time. There is no relearning every kid every year. No reinventing the wheel each and every September. It works. Now the downside to tall of the magical routine based consistency is that with some kids we get stuck. We’ve all been there. You are on year 3 of having a student and completely dumbfounded at where to go next. With students who are less verbal making the move to more advanced skills can be tricky. But no worries- advanced receptive language skills will be your new best friend.
Learn all about the ins and outs of receptive language from our Summer Series – Cooking Up Communication. A great receptive language skill to work on is identifying items by feature and function. This adorable adapted book targets these two skills perfectly in a structured and easy to understand way. Our What’s Bugging You? Books are crowd favorites and my students just can’t get enough!
What’s Bugging You? Feature & Function Edition works on repetitive reading, vocabulary, and identification of features and function. Each page follows a similar routine and is interactive. This book has 12 pages each with a different bug.
