Everyone has a first love. And I’m not talking about the awkward sixth grade crush that left you with an aggression aversion to rollerskating (anyone else turned down for a partner skate at the junior rollerskating party?…). I’m talking about the first time you fell in love with really great materials. It doesn’t happen right away. As a first year teacher, you are just too damn busy trying to make sure you don’t lose a child or figuring out how to log in to do your attendance to even worry about great materials. You are just try to get through the day without getting fired. But soon – things start to flow. And then you get your hands on a great resource. Your formerly Motley Crue-esk group of hooligans suddenly resemble precious moments angel statues with perfectly placed halos on their heads. Everyone is engaged. Everyone is on point. The learning is almost visible. Why the heck isn’t an admin walking in now to witness you in all of your glory?! Whatever resource is in your hand at that moment – instantly becomes your most prized possession. For me, that possession was this adapted book – What’s Bugging You?
Maybe it’s the bugs. Maybe it’s the hilariousness of saying “Oh No” on every page. Maybe it’s the fact that you don’t have to deal with a baggie to out all the pieces in. Whatever it is – this book is the best. It’s the OG of my adapted books. It’s birthed many amazing extensions but sometimes it’s great to come back to an oldies but goodie! This book targets repetitive language, vocabulary, and initial consonants.
