Job Olympics Series – Part 1: Introduction and First Steps

Vocational Jobs: Job Olympics Series Part 2 – Behind the Scenes

Event Set Up

Set up for the event occurred the day before to be prepared and figure out any last-minute additions, needs, etc.

Once the room was set up with tables and chairs, the next step was to decide which events went where. Each table was set up with the materials for the event, manila folders with the event name, students participating in the event, and scoring sheets, along with a green folder with the event name to put completed scoring sheets in. Visuals with a picture of the task and the event’s name were placed on each table.

Job Olympics Event Day

Students participated in 3-4 events each, rotating to any available event in no specific order. For each event, students were scored on greetings/acknowledgment of the judge, task completion, and time to complete the task on some events. Once all students completed their event, students and staff ate lunch while the judging sheets were scored.

One of the best parts about the entire event was celebrating each student who participated. Each student’s excitement was evident as they came up to accept their awards, and everyone was so excited for one another.
