… a new adapted book. This book has replaced What’s Bugging You as the ever prized most favorite adapted book ever spot in my heart. It’s triumph occurred when I read this with one of my Spanish dominate and less verbal students last week and after reading 3 or 4 pages he was already mimicking the vocal pattern “I spy with my little eye…” Ugh! So dang cute – I can’t even stand it!
Each page follows a familiar structure – which I love. My students who have emerging verbal skills are able to “read” along which is always really great to see. This I Spy book worked on attributes and inferences. Each page has a color and students need to select from 4 pictures options. The clues involve color, size, shape, and temperature! Some are kind of tricky. These are difficult skills to accurately assess or teach with our less verbal students so this task works perfectly for me!
I put my pages in page protectors and laminated the pieces. It took me less than 10 minutes to make. This is now my new go-to!
This book has 10 pages, includes 4 pictures options on each page, and has all directions for setup included. Check it out if this looks like something that might be a good fit for your students: I Spy – Attributes & Inferences {an adapted book for children with autism}.
