More Organizational Tips for the Start of the School Year

Getting organized is my jam! It’s not just about having everything in its “place,” it’s about feeling in control. When I’m organized, I can tackle any task with confidence. Check out my last post here for more organizational tips and physical structure in the classroom.

After we have furniture set up, multiple students and staff, and materials, our classrooms can feel overcrowded and full. It is important to be strategic in storing and organizing materials. Below, I have provided ideas for storing materials, curriculum, work tasks, and more.

If you have cabinets, store your work tasks in them. Remember to label the inside and outside of the cabinets to let staff and students know where things belong.

Don’t have cabinets? No problem! Use bookshelves to store materials or work tasks. Either hang a curtain rod and curtain from the inside of the shelf or turn it in to face the wall if you don’t need to access the items on the shelf as often.
Filing cabinets are a great storage solution, and they take up less space than cabinets and bookshelves.
When none of the above options work for your classroom, or you have minimal storage space, the next best thing to utilize is gallon storage bags and a larger storage container.  Remain organized while also using minimal space.
