Hope you are all enjoying your post-turkey day coma with bellies full of pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes, and stuffing. I am in major sweat pants & leftover mode today savoring the deliciousness of a day off. But don’t worry. That does’t mean teaching is ever far from my mind. I have a slight obsession with wh- questions. That sounds completely weird, I know. Most people have obsessions with golden retriever puppy dogs, shiny new sports cars, and designer bags. Don’t worry. I love all of those things too but my real obsession is those pesky little who, what, where, when, and why questions. I am a woman on a mission. A mission to teach my kiddos to answer these questions – whether it kills me or not.
Why is the ability to answer questions so important?
The ability to differentiate between questions and answer correctly is a critical skill that leads to more complex academic and functional skills. Assessment and comprehension tasks are completely based on question answering skills. How will you ever tell what your child is able to understand if he can’t answer questions. Answering questions allows the individual to maintain a conversation, respond to a police officer in case of an emergency, and advocate for his own needs.
I have loads of products to work on answering questions & an extra special holiday-themed freebie to share with you! Some of my favorites are:
