Check out these three new I Spy adaptive books to work on common animal sounds, features, and environments – I Spy Animal Sounds, I Spy Animal Feature, and I Spy Animal Environments.
These books all feature the same animals but target different knowledge about the animals. These books can be a little more challenging for the students because it is not just matching pictures in a book. The books are all similar to set up. Laminate all the pages in the book. On each page place a piece of hard Velcro in all four boxes. Add soft Velcro to the back of all the animal pictures and cut them apart. Each page will have three animals to attach along the bottom. The student moves the correct animal piece to the upper box for the answer.
I Spy Animal Sounds – For this book the students have to match the correct animal to the given animal sound provided a choice of three animals. Have the students make the different animal sounds with you! I even had some of my non-verbal students make vocal approximations on a few of the animal sounds.
I Spy Animal Features – For this book the students have to match the correct animal to the given animal feature provided a choice of three animals. This book is great to target those less familiar vocabulary terms used to describe the animal’s features.
I Spy Animal Environments – For this book the students have to match the correct animal environment such as where the animal sleeps or spends their time to the correct animal. This book has an added visual component to help the students understand those environment vocabulary terms.
