I know that many of us clinicians share rooms with other clinicians, use different offices on different days, provide services within other classrooms, and have to find our own space on a daily basis. If you do have a consistent space or area you use it is nice to make it your own and add some decorations to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I work in 2 different schools and I’m lucky to have a small space at both schools. I share one of my speech rooms with another speech therapy and at my other school I share the room with another clinician on the days I’m not there. You would be surprised what some bulletin board paper and double sticky take can do to old walls and cabinets. Take a look at how my room looked before and after some work.
In my other speech therapy room, I picked a different theme and luckily it didn’t need as much work. I laminated a bunch of different cutouts I bought at the teacher store. I printed out the phrase “Leap into Speech and Language” and laminated it too.
I put the different frogs around my whole room and tried to cover up the old file cabinet and bookshelf I have in my room. Since the frogs are laminated you can even write your students’ names on the frogs around the room.
