Our students thrive on routine, and ESY should be no different. Although there are benefits to the flexibility of the ESY schedule, it is essential to keep a routine and structure in place when planning for some fun summer activities that your students will love!
ESY Scheduling Tips:
- Schedule time to address IEP goals
- Make time for movement activities
- Snack and bathroom break
- Opportunity for social interaction
- Small group instruction
- Leisure activities
- Incorporate fun activities into the students’ day

Make each day a theme or have weekly themes! Whatever you decide, here are some ideas to add to your list:
- Cooking – make some fun summer recipes (ice cream in a bag, s’mores, pizza, etc.)
- Tie-dye (shirts, socks, bag, etc.)
- Water balloons
- Paint rocks
- Create stepping stones
- Make slime
- Play board games
- Woodworking project (get a kit from your local Home Depot)
- Sensory play (rice, water beads, shaving cream, etc.)
