Adapted Journal Page Success

I have a little bit of proud mama bragging to share today. Two of my lower students complete an adapted journal page each day. I wish, wish, WISH I had some before pictures to share with you from September because you might not be getting the full picture of how amazing this little guy’s progress is! Every day they copy my journal page as a guide and copy a “journal” picture.

Check out the adapted journal page page post for a video tutorial and free download! I love this template and highly recommend this system for any emerging writers! It has gone really well and is a great way to start calendar time or a morning meeting.

Here is the template of the journal page:

Here is the basic set up:

Look at how great my guy is on copying the picture! It September this was unrecognizable colored blurry smudges. And now – ahhhhhhh a picture!!! With detail 🙂

And the kiddo who could previously only form the letters in his name: BAM. Not perfect but definitely legible and highly improved!

Hope you all have a great weekend 🙂

  3. As a fellow special education teacher, there’s no need to show me what September looked like — I can picture it! 🙂
This is fantastic, and you should be proud! I absolutely love those “Ah-Ha!” moments when I can SEE their learning happening before me. Those are reasons I went into teaching!

  10. It’s a metal magnetic board – I think? I found it in a coworker’s classroom. I was originally looking for a flyer holder (like they have in stores at checkout). You could also just display this on a bulletin board too!
