I love this linky party and couldn’t help but postpone some of my app review posts a few more days to link up! I like New Years. It’s a great time to reflect on the past year. Think about the highs and the lows. Reflect about how lucky I am and how many great things have happened over the last year.
In July my I met my best friend’s (future and now current) sister in law – Michelle of Fabulous in First. She told me about all of her blog success and completely inspired me to start my own blog. I had been thinking about it for years but lacked the technological prowess. In stepped my amazing website designing friend – Emily. And voila. The autism helper was born and I have never looked back.
I love helping and talking to other teachers. If you have ever emailed with me – you probably already now this – haha! I can talk autism for DAYS! One of my big job requirements when I was job hunting many years ago – was to not be the only autism or special ed teacher in the school. I didn’t want to feel alone. I wanted people to collaborate with. I was lucky enough to find that job but many people aren’t. Often time – we are the only teacher of our type in the building.
Best and brightest moments. I don’t even know where to being there have been so many. Every single email I have gotten has made my day. No lie. I love hearing the feedback, getting your questions, and bouncing ideas around. So keep them coming!
Highest viewed post: Kids vs. Teachers – the post earned all of these views because this is one of my most used intervention. Magic is no exaggeration. It’s amazing.
Most referenced posts: There are two sets of posts that I always come back to. Those are my Seven Steps to Setting Up a Stellar Autism Classroom and Behavior Week. These two areas are the backbone of my class and the theories, strategies, and ideas I am constantly referencing!
My favorite posts: Anything video tutorial! I am a visual learner so I learn the best through pictures and videos. I thought about during video tutorials but at first was REALLY NERVOUS. What if everyone thought I looked stupid!?! But I got over my fears and have made a ton of video tutorials about everything from classroom setup to behavior management to organization. It all started with my classroom tour video.
I also love the Teens on the Tenth posts! My super sweet bloggy friend – Vanessa has been AMAZING collaborating with me to write these. I look forward to these every month!
