What’s Bugging You? School Themed Series

My students absolutely love these “What’s Bugging You?” adapted books which are school supply themed series.  The set includes 3 adapted books which all focus on common school supply items.  These books are great to work on repetitive reading, school supply vocabulary terms, color identification, and identification of function.  Each page in the book follows a similar routine and is interactive.  Along the top of the page it reads “what’s bugging you?” and when I do it with my students I always point to the student who’s turn it is.  Then along the bottom of the page it reads “Oh No! a bug on the….”  The kids tend to crack up laughing when we do the “Oh No” part and like to make funny faces.

What’s Bugging You? School Supply Edition.  This book works on identifying basic school supplies.  The student has to match the bug to the correct school supply item.  You can also work on having your students name all the school items on each page and answer “wh” questions about the items.

What’s Bugging You?  Color Edition.  The focus for this book is to work on identifying basic school supplies by color.  The student has to place the bug on the correct color school supply items.  For example, “a bug on the yellow pencil”.  You can have the students identify the other colors on the page or name the colors on the page.

What’s Bugging You? School Supply Function Edition.  This book is more challenging because it targets identifying school supplies by their function.  For example, “a bug on the on that is sticky” or “a bug on the one that cuts”.  There are no visuals paired with the description so the student really has to understand the function concept described to match the bug to the correct school supply item.

These books have been really fun to use in therapy with my students.
